Leap Day

So here it is... Leap Day. And everybody seems to have an opinion about the baby being born today. Kevin woke up this morning and announced, "Today's the day!" When I asked him to clarify what exactly that meant, he said it's the day for something exciting to happen. I hope something "exciting" happens today so he's not too disappointed. Both grandmas seem to think today would be a good day for a baby. I'm not arguing, especially since my mom has a three-day weekend and is spending it here. It would be a great time for the baby to come -- no need to worry about the Chloe situation while we're at the hospital. I'm just not convinced anything will happen with the baby today. Sorry guys.

I've been using the day to work on a couple of projects I've been meaning to work on for a while now. I finally decided today that I was tired of looking at the box for the baby swing that has been living in our living room ever since the baby shower. So this morning I tackled the task of assembling it. Chloe would say that she helped, but really she just took all the pieces away from me. There I sat on the floor, trying to put the swing together, and trying to convince Chloe to fetch the next piece that she has laid in the next room. It took a while longer than it should have, but we have a fully assembled swing ready for the baby!

I also decided today that I should really get the "nursery" stocked on all necessities so it will be ready for the baby's arrival. We've had the furniture in place for weeks now. I opened a pack of diapers and wipes and put them away. I have burp cloths and nursing pads next to the rocker. Blankets for the baby (and one for me) are folded and ready. the only thing not ready is the radio. I need to go on a hunt for the power cord. I took a few pictures of the "nursery" for you. It was hard to get a really good picture because of where we have it set up. It is behind our steps, right outside our bedroom. The pictures make it look a little more cramped than it is in real life, but you'll get the idea.

If you look closely at the last picture you'll see a very small portion of a door frame on the right side. That's the door to our bedroom. It's not the typical nursery, but it works well for our current needs. It will be nice to have the baby upstairs with me so I don't have to make treks down the stairs all night. Plus, we will be able to transition the baby into Chloe's room when we think she's ready instead of adding a roommate as soon as the baby comes home. Baby's room is ready!
