Contractions and Ice

I suppose all it takes is for me to write a blog entitled "Status Quo", and things will change. Last night I actually broke the doctor's directions. My directions for going to the hospital are: 1) my water breaks or 2) I have more than 6 contractions in an hour. I wasn't exactly keeping track of my contractions early in the evening. I've determined it's easier to wait until I think I'm having quite a number of them. Around 8:00 I decided it was time to write them down. In the 8:00 hour I had seven contractions. I wanted to be sure that it wasn't a fluke, so I gave it another hour. In the 9:00 hour I had seven contractions again. Of course, I didn't want to be out with all the ice. Plus, the contractions weren't exactly at a very regular interval (6-13 minutes). I stopped keeping track for a while because I called home, but they were still coming quite frequently. Kevin finally decided around 10:30 that if I didn't want to go to the hospital right then we should go to bed and try to get some rest. I felt some strong contractions during the night while I was changing positions, but I don't really know how many I had. Now here it is a new day, and I'm hardly having any. Now I really don't know what to do. According to the doctor I should have gone in last night, but I keep sleeping off my stronger contractions! I'll be sure to get some better directions from the doctor on Monday.

Chloe went to the post office with her daddy this morning. He said she had a grand old time gabbing the whole way there. A little while later I heard a knock on the back door. I went back there to find the two of them walking on the ice in the backyard. Chloe thought it was great! She didn't fall once -- not even when she was coming up the stairs.

Now Chloe and I need to get ready for our company. My parents decided to go to the Body Worlds 3 exhibit in St. Louis today before it leaves. At first Dad suggested spending the night in St. Louis, but Mom said they could drive just a little bit farther and spend the night with us. It will be a short visit -- they will get here this evening and have to leave after supper tomorrow. But Chloe will definitely be excited to see them! Maybe they'll get to do some babysitting for us while Kevin and I go to the hospital. Who knows!

I guess all I can say is that you will know for sure if your water breaks. :0) It seems like you will know when it is time. How long does the trip to the hospital take? Make sure you will be able to travel safely in the bad weather!

Maybe baby is waiting for Grandma and Grandpa! I cannot wait to hear about the new little one!

I love and miss you. I think about you and all this often.
