Brief update

No, we haven't dropped off the planet. We just entered the world of new parenthood all over again. Kevin is currently upstairs writing an email update, so this might be old news to some of you.

Julia and I came home on Wednesday afternoon. At the hospital Julia developed some jaundice. We were told to follow up with our doctor on Friday. Friday came around, and we learned that the doctor wanted to get her into a Bilibed. That meant a trip back up to Washington for bloodwork and picking up the bed. She's been living in the bed ever since Friday afternoon. We're really only supposed to have her out for feedings. It's so hard to listen to her just cry because she hates lying on it.

Feedings haven't been going so well lately. At first we were doing really great with the nursing. Then on Thursday she reached a point where she was just too tired to eat. She hardly ate anything all day. Friday was a little better. Saturday she would hardly eat, and now today the only way we've been able to get her to eat is to feed her through a bottle. It breaks my heart that I haven't been able to feed my baby myself. I'm not quite sure what to expect over the next few days. Hopefully she'll have a huge appetite increase and everything will work out fine.

I know you have been waiting very patiently for more pictures. I don't have much time to upload what we have, but I can direct you to the hospital's webnursery where you can see her hospital pictures. There are four different pictures. You have to click on the "next" button at the bottom of the page. Enjoy the pictures of our little Cabbage Patch doll!

I'm glad I got directed to your blog. I've enjoyed reading it a lot!! I have to share with you also--Haley, my granddaughter asked me how you know when you are having a baby. I told her you get pains in your stomach area! She said that you, Rebekah, didn't look like you were in pain at all that you looked happy!! I tried to explain how the pain isn't constant, but didn't matter--just thought it neat she saw your happiness!!

Hang in there friend. It won't be long and everything will be more normal. I went through all of this too. However, Ben's bilibed was in the nursery so I was not the one hearing him cry. That would be very difficult. You are in our thoughts and prayers. How does Chloe like her? Brian says he is hopeful to still have a Julia Katharine Oberdieck, just maybe by marriage :0)

She is beautiful. Wow, all that hair. I'm just a little jealous as Hailey my Granddaughter will turn a year on April 12, and she is still as bald as can be. Cabbage Patch doll really does do her justice. LOL. Anyway, I hope she gets rid of that billibed very soon, and life gets a little easier for your family. Have a great day!
